Borders Shetland Fiddlers – Home

Welcome to the website of the Borders Shetland Fiddlers Last updated on 26th November 2024

We are a group of fiddle players and accompanists who enjoy playing and learning Shetland tunes – both traditional ones and more modern ones composed by Shetlanders. More recently we have added tunes that Shetland players have popularised + a few Scandinavian tunes which are popular in Shetland at the moment and played by Shetland bands.

The group meets in a lovely house in Kirk Yetholm in the beautiful Bowmont Valley, just a few miles from Kelso, more or less every third Monday evening. Any fiddlers who wish to come along are most welcome.

The group was formed in the autumn of 2007 and has players from the Central and Eastern Borders and North Northumberland.

The number of players varies from perhaps 8 on a quiet night to up to 15 on a busier one.

We think we produce a really great sound when we are ‘on song’.
